What Parents Are Saying About HFES
Prospective Parents, be sure to check out more information on our Prospective Parent Page! We encourage everyone to come and meet Principal Rivas and team at an upcoming Open House to see this awesome school in action.
"We toured many CMS magnet school options before deciding to attend our home school of Huntingtowne Farms. The IB program, school diversity, and the passion of the teachers and staff sealed the deal for us. My son loves going to school and when I pick him up he always has a story to tell me about something new he learned, or something silly one of his classmates did. I must also say that the way HF met the challenges of COVID-19 was remarkable. Our principal and teachers were upfront and transparent with each and every decision and really went above and beyond to keep our students engaged and learning." -Shelley, HF Parent
"We have been thrilled with the dual language program for our son. We love that he still gets the IB program and learns a new language! The language is taught in an easy to learn way starting in kindergarten with songs and fun activities. Now our third grader is above grade level for English and Spanish! The teachers are incredible and we are so pleased that we picked this program and this amazing school for our family!" -Sarah, HF Parent
“Our daughter, a third grader, has been enrolled in a charter for the past two years, and attended a CMS magnet for grades K-1. We also have a son in preschool who will start K in the Fall. We spent about 2 hours in the school and were excited by what we observed and learned. We left with a very different impression of the school than what we have had for the past several years. It had been probably 5 years since we had been in the school, and I somewhat regret not having revisited it sooner. As we consider a move from our current charter back to CMS, it was encouraging to see HFES and the IB program in action. The fact that this school, just a couple of streets over from my house, is able to provide the technology, resources, individualized education, and amenities that our current charter cannot is pretty eye-opening for our family. I encourage anyone who is interested or unsure about the current state of the school to make time to visit.” -Melani, HF Parent
“My Kindergartner started at HFES this year. We have a magnet seat and as well as HFES being our home school. As a child she is happy as well as challenged. She LOVES all of her teachers and new friends! As a parent I could not be more pleased with the level of support, guidance and caring that comes from the ENTIRE staff. I believe that HFES is a shining example of what a richly diverse school can accomplish with dedicated teachers and administrators as well as supportive parents.” -Ashley, HF Neighbor
“When we moved to Charlotte one of the most important orders of business was to find good schools for our children. Initially we were part of one of the best schools in CMS...But we struggled for one reason. Although my children were receiving a great education at that elementary school, there was a lack of diversity. You see we built our family through international adoption, and my children needed in an environment that not only celebrated education but also celebrated the diverse world in which we live. We started seeking different options for our children and happened to find Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School. After one meeting with the principal we knew this was our school. All three of my children have felt so comfortable and welcome and loved by each of their teachers and peers at Huntingtowne Farms elementary. This is our youngest son's last year at the school. I am so grateful that each of my children have grown not only academically but also as individuals. They have confidence that they will feel accepted, that they are safe and that they truly are loved at Huntingtowne.” -Donna, HF Neighbor
“Our eldest son will be in Kindergarten at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary in the 2016/2017 school year. We are already getting involved because a strong neighborhood school is important to our family. What has impressed us about Huntingtowne is what parents are saying who have children there. They LOVE it. It is easy to see why. Their children are doing very well academically and socially and getting lots of individual attention. We felt assured by the Fox Block schedule which means for 45 minutes every day, our children will have instruction with other children who are on their level from their grade. In addition to this, children have small group instruction with their educational peers every day with their teacher. The IB Program is awesome with its focus on project based learning. We feel lucky that this is our neighborhood school!” -Sarah, HF Parent
“I am choosing HFES for my rising Kindergartner because it is an excellent choice. Every time I visit the school, I am blown away by the exceptional teaching I see in the Kindergarten rooms, and the small class sizes will be perfect for my shy 5-year-old. The fox block will ensure my children receive instruction in a curriculum tailored to their level. I am confident my child will succeed there, and they will also gain important experiences in diversity and leadership. And as a bonus, they will do this inside our very own neighborhood.”
-Erin, HF Neighbor
“Huntingtowne Farms Elementary is a wonderful environment for student learning. The school is filled with some of the hardest working teachers in Mecklenburg County. The desire to teach to the whole-child, and inspire each student to learn through his/her own curiosity, leads to not only a life-long learner, but a passionate one.” -Brandy, HF Neighbor
"If you are researching which school to enroll your child I ask that you come to this school yourself and see. That's what I did, and I saw a school full of teachers, principal, admins, students and parents (etc) that truly care about education and children. They are willing to put in work to make sure each kid gets the best education that they can. I have a kindergartener and each day I drop her off knowing I made the right choice." -Becca, Magnet Parent
"A great school with fantastic principal, teachers and staff! Best little hidden secret in town!" -Kristin, HF Neighbor
